Our Story
Jerry McMahan founded McMahan Drilling and Blasting, Inc. September 1983 as the only employee. With a hand drill and portable air compressor, he contracted small projects such as house foundations, drilling blast holes and loading the explosives. Today the company has several Sandvic cab track drills, drillers, and licensed blasters to help you with your largest and most complex projects. Jerry’s formal education includes a B.A. degree from the University of Alabama, post-graduate work at Southern Polytechnic University and graduate school at Georgia State University. Jerry stays industry current by attending blasting conferences sponsored by the International Society of Explosives Engineers(ISEE) and the European Federation of Explosives Engineers(EFEE). Recent conferences he attended were ISEE Denver, CO, (2020); EFEE Helsinki, Finland, (2019); Fragblast12 Lulea Sweden, (2018); ISEE San Antonio, (2018); EFEE Stockholm, Sweden, (2017); ISEE Las Vegas, NV(2016); and EFEE Lyon, France(2015). He is a member of the European Federation of Explosives Engineers (EFEE), International Society of Explosives Engineers (ISEE), Peach State Chapter of ISEE, and Georgia Utility Contractors Association. Jerry holds a Georgia Level 3 blasting license.

Since 1983, our professional blasting team has continued to deliver thousands of successfully completed blasting projects. We have blasted project volumes from 1 to 350,000 cubic yards.
